Bellizzi
(Jan, 2010) My family helped me celebrate my birthday at Bellizzi restaurant in Larchmont, NY. I was so impressed by the way we were greeted at the door and asked about food allergies. I was presented with a GF menu and a manager came by and asked if I had any questions. We had 3 GF meals (pizza, 2 pastas) I tried all and found them to be really good. Another plus for me was that each GF meal was tagged. There were balloons on the table and a great playroom for the kids. It was a wonderful experience. Catherine
(Feb, 2010) Mt. Kisco, NY I can get GF pizza at the supermarket, but being able to have a choice of pizza in a restaurant was great. We will be back. Diane
Bistango – New York, NY
(Aug. 2009) Our dining experience at Bistango was SUPERB! The food was AMAZING and the service EXCELLENT! The staff and owner treated me like I was "special", not "different". Everyone in my party agreed we would eat there again! Christina
Burton’s Grill, Hingham MA
(Jan, 2010) Everyone, including two of the managers (Stephen and Deborah), were extremely attentive as soon as we walked in the door. My daughter also has soy and nut allergies, and they were very accommodating, offering variations on the menu or how the food could be prepared. We were well watched and checked in on by both the wait staff and the managers. It was an incredibly pleasant dining experience, and we will definitely be dining here often! We can't say enough about this fantastic experience! Sandra
Burton’s Grill
(Jan, 2010) This is my 3rd visit to Burton's, of N. Andover, MA, which I know about because of GIG's Restaurant Awareness Program. Burton's reminds me of Legal Seafoods - kind of like the steakhouse version, if there ever was one. Or, an upscale Outback Steakhouse, sans the "outback." The bottom line is that while it's on the pricey side, it is well worth it because the staff is extremely knowledgeable about the gluten-free diet and gluten-free cooking. (Good for ME, having Celiac Disease) The staff is also extremely polite, accommodating, friendly, and f-u-n. Burton's also has a really nice bar, and being 30-something, this is where I hang out with my friends now on a Friday night. I haven't been to the Boston Burton's, and am looking forward to the change in venue. Rebecca
Burton’s Grill, Virginia Beach, VA
(April, 2009) There is a new Burton's in Virginia Beach. Wonderful restaurant where they really understand a GF diet. Nothing plain about this food! This is a first rate quality restaurant: clean, lovely ambiance and beautifully prepared and presented food. Obviously the GF menu is not just an afterthought featuring plain unadorned food. Here you can really enjoy dining out again. Sally
Daily Grill
(Feb 2010) Very nice restaurant – Geary Street, San Francisco. The food was excellent and the service was good. I was pleasantly surprised. I will return next time I am in the city. Michael
Golden Wok Café – Ardsley, NY
(Feb 2010) What a choice of GF food! I had a hard time choosing. The food was fantastic. We will be back. Diane
L’annam – New York, NY
(Feb, 2010) What a great place! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful and can guide you through the menu. L'annam has a full menu of many great dishes that are full of flavor. Thumbs up for these guys! Curtis
Lee Roy Selmon’s - FL
(Dec, 2009) Lee Roy Selmon's have a gluten-free menu! When I go, I aways get the pulled pork and smashed potato's. It is always delicious, and a very filling meal. Daniela
Lilli and Loo – New York, NY
(Jan. 2020) This is such an awesome place and they are so sensitive to your needs. Their food is soooo good. They have a great menu. They offer gluten-free Chinese,Japanese and Thai and also yummy gluten free desserts...Must check out. Mary
My Goodness! Deli and Café – Pound Ridge, NY
(Dec, 2009) In a word, AWESOME! GF sandwiches were great, so was the panini. They also had prepared food like meatballs, fillet of fish francese, & beef stew all GF! Owner and staff were knowledgeable, and nice. They are also starting to carry GF products. Can't wait to go back! Mia
Nizza – New York, NY
(Nov, Dec 2009) We spent two months in Times Square over the holidays and we were so pleased to find Nizza! It's a short walk and a much better neighborhood for relaxing than TS. We ate in the restaurant and takeout about two or three times a week and every meal was excellent. The socca is amazing. Try the brunch socca with the eggs on top...you won't miss eggs benedict! Julie
Outback Steakhouse
(Dec, 2009) Lafayette, Indiana Super dining experience. Waiter was very knowledgeable and very good. Kitchen is well trained and knew procedures to change gloves, etc. The best part was a luscious gluten free brownie dessert with ice cream. Ribs were fall off the bone too. Excellent experience. Will be going back again soon! Vicki
(Dec, 2009) Staten Island, NY I want you to know that Outback Steakhouse in Staten Island does an excellent job of gluten-free. I've learned over the years that a gluten-free menu is no guarantee of a gluten-free meal. I go through my speech, even in places where the staff is supposedly trained. But tonight, I was pleasantly surprised when the proprietor, Chris Eldridge, came out to my table with my husband's salad to ask if it needed to be gluten-free, too, and to reassure me he already prepared my meal accordingly. He knows what it means. He cares about his customers, and I enjoyed my dinner...without worry. I have already sent a comment to Outback.com and wanted to share the positive review with you, since GIG has worked with the Outback chain to train them. I recommend that if you want to be sure you are getting a gluten-free meal, don't hesitate to ask for Chris Eldridge. He was in the back doing cooking...a hands-on proprietor. Linda
Peter Wong’s Asian Café – Montvale, NJ
(March, 2010) Food was very good. They had a good selection of gluten free items. The owner was very knowledgeable about gluten free dining. Susan
Piazza Sorrento – Hershey, PA
We walked in, and the hostess greeted us. They sat us within 5 minutes (we had reservations - definitely recommend for weekends), and I asked the gentleman that sat us if I should order off the paper gluten-free menu I'd picked up in the vestibule. He immediately whisked away the menu he’d laid on the table for me, and was back within seconds with a special gluten free menu. The menu looked just like the regular menu, in a heavy faux leather folder. When the waitress came to our table, she already knew that I would be ordering gluten free, and placed my gluten free roll on order. Before she even took our order! The gluten-free menu is huge. Lost of selection: pastas, pizza, salads, appetizers AND desserts! Everything sounds great, but I\'m not a picky eater. I went with the Garlic Shrimp over Penne, with a house salad with the house dressing. The roll was - if I had to guess - Kinnikinnick, possibly. Not bad, but not thrilling either. However, I dipped it in the bread spices, and it was lovely. (My husband said the gluten rolls were fantastic). The salad dressing was a spicy italian, and very pleasant. The meal tasted great - the noodles were cooked al dente, the shrimp was plump and juicy, and the presentation very nice. One thing I really love: each gluten free dish comes with a tag on it that says, Special Gluten Free Dish on it. It\'s another way for them to make sure they are giving you the right meal. They have to gluten-free desserts: Tiramisu and Creme Brulee with fresh fruit. I wanted to try them, but I was too full! I got a doggie bag to go. For two meals, one alcoholic beverage the total came to 43 bucks and some change. Not cheap, but well worth it.What I enjoyed most was that I could relax. They gave a full explanation in their menu of how they view gluten-free dining, and they immediately recognized my needs and worked hard to make sure I felt confident in what they served. Not to mention, the service was excellent. The place ran like a well-oiled machine. Our waitress took the corner into the room at an odd angle, and she dropped an entire tray of meals (not ours, but four or five entrees). Embarrassed, she immediately reported it the kitchen, the busboys and shift manager cleaned it up quickly, the explanation was made to the table, and the evening resumed. Truly amazing team work.Overall mood: busy, active atmosphere, appropriate for children though they'll need to be on their best behavior as the space is narrow between tables. No Indy 500! A bit noisy, simple, elegant interior. Closed Sundays.HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you are close to Hershey, PA, or driving through. Google them on the web. Ally
Pizza Bistro – Massapequa Park, NY
(2 times a week) – EXCELLENT FOOD!!!!! for Gluten free, the Pizza is worth the ride for anyone, and the regular food is great also. Barry
Risotteria – New York, NY
(multiple visits, 2010) Simply the best gluten-free restaurant in the NYC area (and I've tried just about all of them). Small, and often crowded, but the food is stunningly good. Breadsticks, meatballs, pizza, risotto, brownies! Wow! – Scott
(often) Risotteria is our favorite NY restaurant. The service is good (we even have "our" waiter) and the food is fabulous. I can’t even really say what our favorite food is there. We always order to much food because it's so hard to resist the GF menu! Last time, we tried the Winkies (GF Twinkie) and it was to die for. Our other favorite dessert is the Chocolate Tiramisu. Sometimes the Black & Whites are dried out, so ask if you want to order them when they were made. No one does GF breadsticks like these guys and the lemonade, with a simple syrup bottle to sweeten it yourself, is the best. Julie
Ruby Foo’s – New York, NY
(Dec, 2009) The GF meal was very good, very filling. They serve more than an ample amount of food with each selection on the menu. The atmosphere is cozy, very eye appealing. You'll feel quite comfortable/relaxed when you see your surroundings and forget about the hustle and bustle of the city. The workers are more than attentive to the customer. I would definitely eat there again. Louis
S’MAC – New York, NY
(Dec, 2009) It is worth the ride on the L train to get to S'Mac. Every different kind of mac-n-cheese has been fabulous, although I have to say the turkey and stuffing and the Parisian have been my favorite. It's always crowded, but while you are waiting for your food, a table will open up. The small size is plenty for a lunch, but if you want leftovers, order up! Be aware, the Upper West Side location does not serve GF mac. We found that out the hard way. Julie
The Heights Bistro and Bar – Yorktown Heights, NY
(multiple visits, 2010) Anyone living in Westchester with Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance should *ABSOLUTELY* try The Heights. We discovered it a few years ago and it is an absolute gem! The gluten-free appetizers (try the Quesadillas!), entree's(including pasta) and dessert (the flourless chocolate cake is not to be believed)are out-of-this-world. Not cheap, but well worth the money. Scott
